ROCHESTER CITY BALLET TO PERFORM PETER AND THE WOLF
- PROKOFIEV’S CLASSIC BALLET CATERS TO YOUNG AUDIENCES -

ROCHESTER, N.Y. –The Rochester City Ballet (RCB) will perform Sergei Prokofiev’s children’s classic, Peter and The Wolf January 31 and February 1, 2009 at Rochester’s own School of the Arts. Tickets for this year’s performances are on sale now at all Wegmans locations.

“Peter and The Wolf is an ideal way to introduce children to ballet and to the arts,” said RCB artistic director Jamey Leverett. “The dancers use movement and music to bring their characters to life and tell a story. Also, the whimsical costumes such as the Wolf, the Bird and the Cat really engage and excite young audience members.”

Performances begin at 2 p.m. each day and audience members are invited to enjoy pre-performance activities beginning at 1:15 p.m. Children and their parents can enjoy face painting, take in dance demonstrations by Rochester City Ballet company members and learn more about how the music and choreography of Peter and The Wolf were created specifically for children.
The cast includes Rochester City Ballet company members Brandon Alexander as Peter, Tara Lally as the Wolf, Jessica Kitchens as the Bird, Jessica Tretter as the Duck, and Kaitlin Fitzgerald as the Cat. Adam Kittelberger will perform the role of Grandfather, and Katie Lally, Amanda Melrose-Smith, Courtney Catalana, Corynn Miller, Caitlin Schwartz and Loren Williams will dance as Hunters.

Tickets for Peter and The Wolf are $15 and can be purchased at all Wegmans locations.
