FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: The Rochester City Ballet Takes the Stage for
Cinderella ROCHESTER, N.Y. –Rochester City Ballet (RCB) brings a classic fairytale to life with its spring production of Cinderella. This family-favorite, complete with gorgeous sets, brilliant costumes, exquisite dancing and hilarious moments, is for perfect for anyone who believes in magic. Artistic director Jamey Leverett creates an experience that makes the beauty and artistry of ballet accessible for children and parents alike. She explains, “Performing Cinderella is a great opportunity for us to entertain the whole family! Cinderella makes a believer out of everyone.” Brittnay Shinay of Pittsford beautifully portrays Cinderella, a girl treated as a servant in her own home before becoming a princess. To get to her prince, Cinderella has to get past her cruel Stepsisters, hilariously performed by RCB Ballet master Fidel Orrillo and guest dancer Andre Kaltenrieder, and her conniving Wicked Stepmother brought to life by RCB Ballet mistress Beth Bartholomew. Helping Cinderella along the way is her Fairy Godmother, magically performed by Tara Lally, and Fairies for each of the four seasons danced by company members Kaitlin Fitzgerald (of Canandaigua), Katie Lally (of Rochester), Amanda Melrose-Smith (of Rochester) and Jessica Tretter (of Brighton). Guest dancer Israel Rodriguez performs the role Cinderella’s handsome Prince while Cervillo Miguel Amador, another guest, dances in the role of the Jester. Performances will be Saturday, April 26th at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. and Sunday, April 27th at 2pm. Ticket prices for Cinderella begin at $20 and may be purchased through the Auditorium Theatre box office and through TicketMaster by phone at 585-232-1900 or www.ticketmaster.com beginning March 7th. A $5 discount is available for through TicketMaster for students with proper I.D. and seniors. Access cardholders may redeem a $5 discount by purchasing tickets at the Auditorium Box Office located at 875 East Main Street. Discounts are also available for groups of 10 or more by calling Debbie Tretter at 585-461-5850. The Rochester City Ballet (RCB), founded in 1987, is a non-profit, educational corporation. The company presents a full season of quality dance to diverse audiences and helps keep the arts alive by presenting performances to educate and entertain adults and children at community events and special RCB performances.
