FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Rochester City Ballet To Hold Nutcracker Auditions ROCHESTER, N.Y. –The Rochester City Ballet (RCB) has recently announced the audition date for this year’s production of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker. Each year, RCB collaborates with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO) to bring this much-loved holiday classic to the Eastman Theatre. Last year, more than 150 local children auditioned for the opportunity to dance alongside Rochester’s professional ballet company in The Nutcracker. Auditions for the performances will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2007 at the Rochester City Ballet studios located at 1326 University Avenue, Rochester. Registration is as follows:
The Company is interested in all boys and girls ages five – twelve years old. Due to costume restrictions, dancers should be within 44 – 58 inches tall and weight appropriate to height. Dance experience is considered a plus, but not mandatory. For more information please contact Kathy Ertsgaard at the Rochester City Ballet offices, 585- 461-5850. Please note that if selected, a performance fee will be required of all dancers and all Nutcracker rehearsals are closed to the public. The 2007 performances of The Nutcracker will take place on November 23rd through 25th at the Eastman Theatre, 26 Gibbs Street, Downtown Rochester. The Rochester City Ballet (RCB), founded in 1987, is a non-profit, educational corporation. The Company presents a full season of quality dance to diverse audiences and helps keep the arts alive by presenting performances to educate and entertain adults and children at community events and special RCB performances.
