FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: ROCHESTER CITY BALLET “GETS UP OFFA THAT THING” AT ITS ANNUAL MOTOWN FUNDRAISER ROCHESTER, N.Y. – On Friday, August 18, 2006 the Rochester City Ballet will present its annual fundraiser, simply titled “An Evening of Motown.” Co-chairs Lauren Dixon and Nancy Manninvite all James Brown music lovers to the Canandaigua Inn on the Lake, located at 770 South Main Street to dance the night away. Each part of the night is themed after a classic Motown song. “Get Up” opens the evening at 6:30 p.m. with hors d’oeuvres, dinner and cocktails; A special Motown performance featuring the music of James Brown, Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin, will be performed by the Rochester City Ballet at 8p.m.; “Say It Loud” features a live auction beginning at 8:30 p.m.; and “Get Up Offa That Thing” concludes the evening with Motown music stylings from Nik & the Nice Guys’ Fever. Guests are encouraged to come dressed in their favorite Motown garb. Rochester City Ballet balloons will be available to purchase for $100 holding a special prize inside. Live auction items include a unique creation from the studio of artist Paul Knoblauch; Rochester City Ballet dancers to perform at your private party; a trip to Napa Valley as part of a wine lovers package; jewelry from Mann’s Jewelers; and more.
