ROCHESTER CITY BALLET HIRES SIX NEW DANCERS
Rochester’s professional company expands, adding both company members and apprentices to the roster

ROCHESTER, N.Y. –The Rochester City Ballet (RCB) is pleased to announce the addition of three new company members and three apprentices to their organization. Brandon Alexander, Jessica Kitchens and Jessica Tretter join the RCB as company members while Ekaterina Babko-Malaya, Corynn Miller and Lauren Pschirrer come on board as company apprentices.

“We are thrilled that, with the support of the Rochester community and our loyal patrons, we are able to offer attractive contracts and bring in truly gifted dancers,” says artistic director Jamey Leverett. “This is such an exciting time for the ballet and we can’t wait to take the stage for The Nutcracker and share these new faces and fresh talent with the community.”

RCB’s new company members have each gained experience through extensive training and performance. A Houston native, Mr. Alexander trained under Lori Amare before attending the Houston Ballet’s Ben Stevenson Academy on a full scholarship and later performing with the Houston Ballet II and Joffrey Ballet of Chicago. Ms. Kitchens received training from the Ballet Theatre of Boston, Eglevsky Ballet and Boston Ballet before dancing with Louisville Ballet and Milwaukee Ballet II. Jessica Tretter, originally of Brighton, trained at the Draper Center for Dance Education and the Houston Ballet’s Ben Stevenson Academy on full scholarship. Ms. Tretter danced with RCB before performing with both the Houston Ballet and Ballet San Antonio.

The three apprentices joining RCB also bring a range of background to the organization. Ms. Babko-Malaya received training at the Bossov Ballet Theatre and Joffery Ballet School. Ms. Miller, an Indiana native, studied with the Fort Wayne Ballet, Orlando Ballet, and the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre Graduate Program. Ms. Pschirrer received her training from Peoria Ballet and the North Carolina School for the Arts and had visited Rochester previously to attend a summer intensive at the Draper Center for Dance Education.

All six new hires now reside in Rochester and will perform when RCB teams up with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra for The Nutcracker November 28th-30th at the Eastman Theater.

The Rochester City Ballet (RCB), founded in 1987, is a non-profit, educational corporation. The Company presents a full season of quality dance to diverse audiences and helps keep the arts alive by presenting performances to educate and entertain adults and children at community events and special RCB performances. The RCB has created at least 20 new ballets including Firebird, Don Quixote, Cinderella and the annual Nutcracker.
